Angela Gatto obtained PhD in Miglioramento genetico e Patologia delle piante agrarie e forestali, focusing on the identification and study of the variability of phytopathogenic fungi. Subsequently, she worked on the isolation and characterization of genes of agronomic interest, the study of gene expression in plants in response to stress and the study of traits for the construction of genetic maps. Her studies are currently focused on mycotoxin-producing fungi of interest in food
