SUSTaining and improving local crop patrimony in Burkina Faso and Niger for betterSUSTaining and improving local crop patrimony in Burkina Faso and Niger for better LIVes and EcoSystems

The SUSTLIVES project is funded by the European Union under the DeSIRA initiative. The project aims to promote the transition towards sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural and food systems in Burkina Faso and Niger by promoting the heritage of local crops and their income-generating value chain in the Sahel region. The project will strengthen the research and innovation capacities of actors in the agricultural innovation and knowledge system on the value chains of neglected and underutilized crops in the countries concerned. SUSTLIVES is based on an in-depth analysis of the socio-economic and agro-environmental characteristics of Niger and Burkina Faso, where a comprehensive approach to protect and strengthen agro-biodiversity is proposed, as well as a participatory and inclusive approach, sensitive to gender and age
